Part of me wants to say I never thought this could happen in my country. The other part of me is well aware of what right wing extremists are capable of and what their core values are. After years of exposure to their vitriolic rhetoric and violent aggressions, I can safely say anything a right wing ideologue does is wholly unsurprising. There is no low too low for right wing fascists.
What I never thought I’d see, even after watching the nation’s most corrupt yet incompetent commander in chief for the past four years, was a sitting president fomenting insurrection and ordering a mob of armed protestors to march on to the Capitol Building and disrupt Congress. I clearly am not much of a visionary, because Donald J. Trump did just that. He didn’t imply it. He didn’t say it tongue-in-cheek. He told his rabid, conspiracy nut job supporters to leave his White House rally to head to the seat of Congress, that they can’t take back their country with weakness, they had to be strong.
Donald Trump laid the hearth.
Donald Trump chopped the wood.
Donald Trump added the kindling.
Donald Trump lit the match.
Donald Trump started this fire.
Donald Trump has stoked the flames.
So why is anyone surprised this nation is burning?
From the moment Joe Biden was declared the 46th President of the United States, Donald Trump has riled his supporters with conspiracy theories of massive voter fraud, claiming he had won the election in a “landslide” victory despite losing by over seven million votes, and feeding into the narrative with endless lawsuits among other fantastical methods seeking to subvert the election.
I do not want Joseph R. Biden, Jr. to be the 46th President of the United States.
No, you read that correctly… I don’t want Joseph R. Biden, Jr. to be the 46th President of the United States.
I want him to be the 47th.
Vice President Pence and the cabinet of secretaries have sworn an oath to defend the United States Constitution and from its enemies, whether foreign or domestic. It is their duty to invoke section IV of the 25th Amendment and remove this traitorous president, a threat to American democracy like no other, before he continues his seditious stochastic terrorism and further blood is shed.
We should never allow the Republicans to forget their part in the attack on the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021. We should never forgive them for their complicity in Donald Trump’s presidency and his role in this dark hour. We should never let them hold power in any branch of government ever again. The right wing extremists need to be suppressed and relegated to the dustbin of history.
